Bogues

Bogues is the brainchild of Nashville's AJ Gruenewald who writes lyrics straight from the heart, based around topics of heartbreak, loss, and navigating the different stages of life. Bogues' music can be compared to the likes of Andy Shauf and Phoebe Bridgers, but has a uniqueness and warmth to it that begs the need to hear more.

Nancy Ann

Nancy Ann is no stranger to a Born & Raised singer songwriter showcase, and we just had to bring her back. Hailing from small-town Ohio and moving her roots to Knoxville, TN, she brings a wholesome and fun energy to her pop-americana genre that she's connected with. In Canvas Rebel Magazine, she states "My songs tend to gravitate towards interpersonal relationships and the experiences that shape them."

Lazarus Lake

Michael Jones’ love of family pervades his music. As the artist behind the alternative country project Lazarus Lake, he titled his inaugural single “Family Tree” to express his yearning for the family ties that brought him up. Michael has been reaping the benefits of his family’s love of music, from the very beginning until now. Joseph Barnum

Joseph Barnum, once Middle Tennessee local, now Knoxville native, is Born and Raised Productions' own singer songwriter (self proclaimed "lowercase 's' singer"). Joseph has toured across the eastern United States under the pseudonym "Ponder" but is looking to try his own name on for size.

Zach Russell

For decades now, musicians and songwriters have flocked to Nashville, Tennessee, in hopes of starting or fortifying their careers in the music industry. Zach Russell, who, subconsciously or not, bucks a number of trends in today’s music world, found the opposite to be true. It wasn’t until moving away from Music City U.S.A. that Russell inked his first record deal with tenacious indie label Thirty Tigers.

For seven years in Nashville, Russell studied how fellow writers and performers were approaching their craft, even spending a stint on the road as Tyler Childers’ merchandise manager. Getting a firsthand look at precisely what it takes to chase down greatness, Russell believed he could achieve it as well. But ultimately, taking a breather from Nashville brought clarity—and lots of songs—to the East Tennessee-based artist, and got the ball rolling on what would become Russell’s debut full-length album, Where The Flowers Meet The Dew out Dec 1st.

Grady Spencer & the Work

Grady Spencer & the Work is a band built from blood, tears, and sweat. A whole lot of sweat. Grady was born and raised in the West Texas plains, where he learned not only the value of a hard day’s work, but also how to play the acoustic guitar.

Following his love for the music of Jack Johnson, Grady would quickly realize that the music that he was playing was not only a hobby but a dream that he would be chasing for the rest of his life. In 2013, Grady would meet Blake Sager, the original and long-withstanding drummer of the band. Several roster alterations and changes over the years would eventually lead Grady to also find and convince bassist Johnny Hatcher and lead guitarist Tyler Martin to join the band as well. Since late 2017, this group of close friends and teammates have been working together to craft two full-length albums and countless live shows across the country.

 Multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, songwriter, and producer Cruz Contreras has impacted Americana music worldwide with projects Robinella and the CCstringband (1998-2007) and The Black Lillies (2009-2019). While in college, Contreras co-founded Robinella and the CCstringband, lending his initials to the stringband. He worked alongside Grammy-winning producer Russ Titleman (Eric Clapton, Little Feat) to co-produce their self-titled 2003 Columbia Records release. The critically acclaimed record led to national television performances, including Late Night with Conan O’Brien, a CMT-charting video for the single, “Man Over,” and his first performance on the hallowed stage of the Grand Ole Opry. To date, he’s appeared on “the Opry” 40 times.  He founded The Black Lillies in 2009. Paul Janeway understands this conundrum of heritage well. The singer of the Birmingham, Alabama–based rock and roll soul band St. Paul & The Broken Bones was born and raised in America’s Deep South, a place where social consciousness can still take a backseat to unsavory traditions and where a family’s expectations sometimes supersede all else. Despite the fierce familial love, he enjoyed and constantly gave back while growing up—especially to his father and grandfather—from an early age Janeway realized that the way he thought about the world was a little different from those around him, and he began to seek an outlet from which to share what was in his heart and on his mind. For two decades, Will Hoge has carried the torch for American rock & roll, carving out his own blue-collar sound rooted in amplified guitars, melodic hooks, southern soul, and rootsy stomp. It’s a sound that nods to the best moments of the past — the punch of Tom Petty’s anthems; the countrified twang of Buck Owens’ singing; the raw, greasy cool of the Rolling Stones — while still pushing forward into new territory, with Hoge’s storytelling and larger-than-life voice leading the charge.

Jesse Daniel Edwards

Jesse Daniel Edwards is an award-winning, independent songwriter hailing from the small mountain town of Cuyamaca, CA (pop. 60). As a child, Jesse and his 6 siblings grew up without television, internet, or significant exposure to the outside world. He spent his time learning to sing harmony to gospel tracks and tinkering on hand-me-down instruments with his grandpa (JDE composed his first song at age 5 about his mother’s meatloaf). Leaving home at 16, he spent his late teen years busking on street corners around the US and abroad. After a chance encounter, John Prine's manager took the budding songwriter under his wing in Nashville. Jesse eventually grew to perform on the festival and university circuits full-time, releasing 5 recordings and performing with the likes of Jason Mraz, First Aid Kit, and John Prine. Since that time, Jesse has continued to travel, write, and produce his heartfelt brand of lyric-based music in Nashville. Known for his passionate vocals and smart lyrics, his characteristic alternative sound is infused with folk, pop, and a touch of soul. HIs most recent recording, produced by Steve Cropper (Otis Redding) was reviewed as "full of courage and catharsis" (American Songwriter). His songs have been regularly featured on the radio, TV, streaming movies, video games, and 3 independent films.
